Whilst our director Laura Whyte didn’t win ‘Licensed Member of the Year’ at the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Professional Member Awards 2018, Whyfield’s clients will be benefiting from her presence at the AAT’s Annual Conference.
Laura, along with fellow director Roxane Neave, attended the two day gathering of top accountancy professionals and industry experts in Windsor. Together they soaked up over 10 hours each of CPD seminars, speeches and presentations with the theme being the rapidly changing accountancy world where the focus is now on the added value and business advisory with compliance work seen as more of a by-product.
Laura and Roxane gathered insights from the Director General of Customer Compliance at HMRC on bringing business into the digital age; accountancy practice strategy and growth (something Whyfield are really experiencing with over 50% growth over the past 12 months); and how technology is transforming the profession for the better.
Commenting on being shortlisted to the final 3 for the AAT’s Licensed Member of the Year, Laura said: “Although it would have been nice to win the award, we certainly aren’t disappointed. There were only 20 shortlisted finalists across the 7 award categories to recognise the highest level of achievement amongst over 50,000 AAT professional members across the world. My maths says that we’re in the top 0.04% of the entire member group which acknowledges the amazing efforts of everyone at Whyfield!”
Roxane added: “We’re really proud of the recognition that Laura has received and would like to congratulate all of the winners and finalists on their tremendous contribution to the accountancy. We look forward to bringing all the insight we gathered back for the benefit of our clients.”
